Glastonbury Calling 2017 - Katey Brooks

Live review of the set at The Assembly Rooms for Glastonbury Calling 2017

Live Review – Katey Brooks at Glastonbury Calling 2017

katey brooks at glastonbury callingOriginally from Bristol, Katey is a performer and musician that I have not previously seen or heard but I am now a fan. Katey plays guitar and sings, and her heartfelt songs weave around you gently pulling you in like a story unfolding in song. Her lyrics are hypnotic, gentle yet thought provoking and her powerful folk voice easily filled the space, drawing us in, and immediately stopping the Saturday night catch up chatter.

As only an accomplished musician can, Katey played one acoustic track sat in the middle of the audience, just her voice and unplugged guitar a beautiful heartrending song and you could have heard a pin drop, the audience was captivated. It was one of those festival moments where no-one wants it to end. Talking to Katey after the set, she was friendly, approachable and appreciative of the positive feedback and enjoyment that her music had given. I am already looking forward to see her again.
